Calamity Jane was a good friend of Wild Bill Hickok, and after he died, she went on to befriend Buffalo Bill Cody and appeared as a storyteller in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. Annie Oakley also appeared in the Wild West Show. It is also told that Calamity worked for Dora DuFran, who was a prominent Madam and whose brothel was located in Deadwood, South Dakota. Of course, at that time, Casper, Wyoming was a major resting place for travelers of the Wild West, as it is today.
